There are like four shows competing for air in this swamp, and right now, only one of them is interesting.

While Swamp Thing is determinedly derivative -- or rip-off-ish, if you prefer -- its extraordinary execution makes it a lot of spooky fun to watch.

Reed makes a great Abby as she is caring and sensitive but can be hard as nails if the moment calls for it.

There's still a great show in there somewhere, and perhaps one day it might be fully-realised. But for the time being, despite its very capable first half, Swamp Thing is just another show.

[The finale] wraps up the series well enough under the circumstances, but Swamp Thing deserves better than one single, truncated season.

Audience Reviews for Swamp Thing: Season 1

It is such an underrated show with a very promising yet complex plot that keeps you guessing

I cannot believe critics gave a higher rating than the audience lol This is exactly the type of show you'd expect critics to just destroy in reviews, but it seems like the critics are memorized by all the new comic book shows on the CW(Stargirl). They gave Stargirl such high reviews but Stargirl is ultimate cheeseburger city! I'm not sure if Swamp Thing is as cheesy as Stargirl yet but we shall soon find out!

I thought it was pretty good. I've only seen the first episode. It took a while to get started and mostly gave background information. I like it overall and will keep watching the show.

I was anxiously awaiting this when it came out but was underwhelmed. The cast was good but it never really grabbed me.
  • Oct 10, 2020
I loved it a really good story

Really enjoyed it. Pro's: effects are practical and that is nice for TV. The actors played their parts well. Just plain fun to watch Cons: The only con that really bothered me is that it felt a little bit like a CW show where they tried to have a who's going to date the main character but they never dip into the full CW and that's good.
