News & Interviews for The Haunting of Bly Manor: Miniseries
Flanagan has brought a literary classic to life for an entire new audience with a vision uniquely his own.
"Bly Manor" stands as an ambitious blend of genres and arrives at its ultimate point with proper gravity. It's not a great ghost story, it's not a great love story, but it's still haunting enough to hear out.
So no, Bly Manor isn't as chilling as Hill House, but it is ultimately a good deal more satisfying, and it whets the appetite for any future installments.
I'm all for patient storytelling, asking the audience to do a little work to get to the payoff. But "The Haunting of Bly Manor" takes that to extremes. Patience is a virtue. Here it's a chore.
In its attempt to escape the shadow of Hill House, Bly Manor takes a misguided pivot into gothic soap opera, stranding its performers and fans in the process.
The scare factor doesn't have to be the be-all, end-all of horror, but The Haunting of Bly Manor's structure is also redundant in a way that makes it a frustrating watch.
I found The Haunting of Bly Manor to be such a fantastic example of gothic romance and horror.
Bly Manor lacks some of the horror found in Hill House, but that's fine, it works as a story about love, loss, and yearning.
As a highly anticipated release, Bly Manor proves it is a worthy, and frightening, next chapter to "The Haunting".
...the most interesting characters are not the leads but the housekeeper (T'Nia Miller), gardener (Amelia Eve), and cook (Rahul Kohli).
Audience Reviews for The Haunting of Bly Manor: Miniseries
3d agoMenos assustadora que a antecessora, mas igualmente poderosa e melancólica. Aqui você se apaixona pelos personagens e sofre na mesma intensidade.
May 18, 2021The Haunting of Bly Manor treaded away the horror & creativeness of The Haunting of Hill House to make a series about a bunch of whiny little brat that is not scary nor creative. This series is so dull & boring. Two characters invading kids are not scary. It's just boring
May 16, 2021A beautiful well-built layered love story.
May 15, 2021It's not scary, yes. But it's unique. Fine storytelling and the perfect example for how isolation feels like. That feeling of dread and intense sadness of losing a loved one, it has no bounds. I wish Danielle's fate could've been different.
May 05, 2021The story stands its own ground while being told just as nicely as Hill House. The directing, presentation, narration, and of course the explanations continue to be brilliantly executed and put together. When they start to explain things you truly see just how much.
Apr 29, 2021The CHaracters were lame and hardly any ghosts or scares. Lost a lot of the charm of the first series
Apr 22, 2021Not nearly as good as the first season, but who knew Henry Thomas could do such a decent British accent?
Apr 20, 2021Very disappointed wish they could've make use of episode 8 as the main plot rather than going into circle's figuring out what the actual story behind Bly Manor is. The Haunting of Hill House had me intrigued from the beginning hntil the end
Apr 14, 2021This would have been better had it been edited and presented as a shorter TV movie rather than as a lengthy series. It had some really good gothic scenes. There were just too many characters and their stories to follow. I fast forwarded through many of them just to follow the actual story. Viola was a really nasty ghost. Dani was too nice a person to end up a mindless haunt.
Apr 10, 2021Everything was tied into together quite nicely. Excellent acting. Interesting storylines that meshed well. Great plot twist. The right amount of horror, that's not too over the top but just right and unsettling. It's just a well done show.
