News & Interviews for The Spanish Princess: Season 2
Like in the first installment, Charlotte Hope carries this series on her petite shoulders, summoning a constant inner strength from Catherine as she recovers from repeated losses. She is a warrior, after all.
Catherine is certainly at the center of the show's maelstrom of action. But the woman worth getting angry over is nowhere to be found, here, in a show that earned my polite admiration but not my fealty.
Audience Reviews for The Spanish Princess: Season 2
Mar 05, 2021I still enjoyed this final season, just not as much as the first. Catherine sadly continues to become even more irritating and selfish, don't feel remotely sorry for her in the end. Maggie Pole continues to be brilliant and Meg Tudor is great.
Jan 18, 2021The acting is horrible. The main characters have zero chemistry. They should be ashamed of themselves for casting Charlotte Hope with that chalkboard scratching fake accent. They should have cast a Spanish actress, or at least one that could do a better job.
Dec 04, 2020The Spanish Princess: Season Two continues the story on Starz produced series about the relationship between King Hrnry VIII (Ruairi O'Conner) and Catherine of Aragon (Charlotte Hope). If you have watched The Tudors on HBO this version was less mediocre. The story of the time of the Tudors is retold thru the eyes of the Spanish Queen but her delivery was sour and unconvincing. I love history and it was sad to see the Queen to have lost so many babies but because of the times it was difficult to determine the cause of why she had so many stillbirths. The ending felt rushed and weird. It was not worth watching.
Nov 20, 2020So far, mediocre to terrible. Hoped that Catherine Hope would have improved on her terrible acting of season one, the low ratings of that show looked likely to make a renewal not happen. However, so far it has not happened. The accent is somewhat less cringeworthy though! The novels deserved better casting and sticking a woman of color in the cast does not change the overall dreariness that comes from the lead. Although there is no chemistry with Henry, you would expect that from Catherine who after all gets dumped for a prettier model. Maybe it will get better as it progresses.
Oct 26, 2020Boring and the lead actress's accent is soooo bad. Oy. She's not a good actress at all. They picked these two, out of the wide world of actors, to play Henry VIII and Catherine? Big mistake.
Oct 18, 2020For a person who loves history, this show, though enhanced for dramatic purposes, is amazing! It is enlightening to the reason King Henry IIIV withdrew from Queen Catherine. It does a fantastic job of portraying their relationship and what presumptively happened to their marriage, and what led to the King having left the Catholic church and the creation of divorce. The show also eludes to how the Tudors allegedly stole the throne from the Lancaster claim. Very well done!
